Energy saving - radiator thermostats
|
 | "Free heat" saves money and energy! Sunlight, domestic appliances, electrical light, televisions, etc. give off heat and therefore help rise the room temperature. This is called "free heat". The thermostat registers the "free heat" by automatically closing down and your radiator gets cold. When there is not enough "free heat" left, the thermostat automatically opens again, and the radiator will warm up. |
| | Night set back To save energy you can lower the temperature at night or at times when nobody is at home. This can be done manually on a standard Danfoss thermostat or by installing the new programmable thermostat RA-PLUS. Once installed the RA-PLUS can be programmed for night set-back at user defined periods |
| | Frost protection If you are not at home for a long period of time, you can safely turn the thermostat to "*". At this setting the thermostat will keep the room temperature at about 7-8°C and thereby ensure optimal energy saving while protecting the room/heating system from being damaged by frost. |
| | Ventilation During the heating season the windows should only be opened briefly to let in fresh air. If a long ventilation period is required the thermostat should be turned down to "*". |
| | Do not cover the thermostat! The thermostat must be able to register the temperature of the room. If it is covered by e.g. thick curtains or furniture, use a thermostat with remote sensor! |
